Chère Licia, how good to hear part of your story and history. This has reminded me in part of the country where I was born: France. To be precise South-West France, Cathars, Troubadours, Knights Templars, etc.
Just to give you a nice picture, taste, sense of history. Well, this country also has been invaded, suffered for centuries at the end of many conquering nations.(had to take side, collaborate or not ?? difficult to judge...) This brings me to say that on my mother side there seem to be a lineage of the land, on my father side I have a grand-mother who came on foot with her family from Spain to flee the Civil War war. We never labeled her an outsider. It was not until I came to the UK, eventually married and settled here that I suddenly became an Alien on this island. This was 40 years ago !
It would appear that if we look deep down in our lineage we all have something to defend, to create separation in our lives. Hence we all have a platform to find ourselves, to accept who we really are no matter who our parents are, no matter where we come from, no matter how hard the situations are.......
This is perhaps our Grail quest, the quest of the Rose, the diamond inside each one of us.
Bless you on your quest, I look forward to read the next instalment !

The psychic door you talk of interests me. I think it exists in many families and perhaps is due to some kind of past persecution as you suggest. Perhaps there will always come someone, like you, who sees the door and dares to walk through. You've reminded me of my own blue-eyed Indian experience in Hot Springs, Arkansas - another story to share sometime.

You put so much history and feelings in a very interesting story...just like the Indian storytellers..I had to read all of it. You wrote without judgement and made me feel my own love of nature...I come from the Eskimo line and I have always 'seen' things that could not be explained. But, our family didn't talk much about being Indian. It is only now that my aunt is talking about it with pride or perhaps to give her life purpose...fighting.
